Last Saturday night September 22nd

2007, after many years in the cold, the

sport of bodybuilding in Saint Lucia

continued to make its way out into the warmth of the stage of contest.

The long-serving 198-pound Rolandson ‘The Beast’ Auguste defeated Lawrence

‘Robocop’ Stevens in the Overall pose down to win the National Bodybuilding

Championship for the umpteenth time.

Having won the Light Heavy/Heavyweight class in a two-man but no contest

clash with novice Ethenel Agdomer of Choiseul, it was almost a foregone

conclusion who would have won the overall.

The novice Agdomer displayed vast potential with huge arms, a very broad but

under developed back, and legs and chest crying out for attention, was a

reminder of the muscle giants who have graced the stage in years gone by.

Agdomer has a lot of potential and do have much work to do. His arms are big

and the areas he needs to touch on, if he does, he will be one true heavyweight

the region has not seen in along time.

In the night’s opening clash, Stevens won the Bantam Lightweight division,

defeating Alphonso “Shortman” Joseph and St. George Propsere into second and

third place, respectively.

Joseph was in ripping form, having many

thinking that he would be the one winning but

in the end, it was Stevens who the always

highly competitive Bantam Lightweight division.

Raymond Daniel won the Welter/Middleweight

division marking the start to what many are expecting to be a successful

comeback.

His physique was ripped and shredded, forcing the question, “was he ever out of

the sport?”

Coming in second place was William Lamontagne with another veteran Winston

Spooner taking the third spot.

Daniel nicknamed ‘The Ghost’ then went on to competed in the Men’s Master’s,

which he captured defeating Winston Spooner in the process.

Saint Lucia’s Man of Steel, Julian Felix, did not compete due to according to an

official of the Saint Lucia Amateur Bodybuilding Association, “Felix has an injury.”

It was the biggest dismhappointment for a clash between Felix, Auguste, Daniel,

and Stevens is one of the most mouth-watering offerings from bodybuilding.

It is a line-up of class, experience, and a take-no-prisoner attitude on the stage,

forcing each one to bring out in the other the best.

Edmund Sidonie, president of the Saint Lucia Amateur Bodybuilding Association,

said that he was sure all was inspired by last Saturday’s show, adding “the guys

did exceedingly well in the various weight categories.”

Though that the participation could have been better, for the gyms from Micoud

and Soufriere did not send the expected competitors.

Notwithstanding, a team will be selected to represent Saint Lucia at the

upcoming Central American and Caribbean Bodybuilding Championships in

Bermuda later this year, and with the local bodybuilding administration looking to

pull out all stops, the region’s muscle men and ladies needs to be totally ripped

and shredded complemented with an out of the world posing routine to stop the

Saint Lucians.
