VFCSS suffers first defeat

CHOISEUL, Saint Lucia - Vieux-Fort Comprehensive suffered their first defeat at

the hands of Piaye Secondary School when the two teams met at the Choiseul

Playing field on Monday 19th.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, Vieux-Fort totalled 153 runs all out in 27.1

overs, with significant contributions for Vieux-Fort came from Jermi Monrose 41,

Walter Emmanuel 36 and Marvel Brin 16.

For Choiseul, Chad James was the pick of the bowlers with four for 30 from

seven overs, while Joe Tench who bagged three for 47 also from seven overs

ably supported him. Lance Andrew also had two for 43 from his spell of six overs.

Choiseul was in immediate trouble when Walter Emmanuel got the wicket of

Denzel Albert with the first delivery. He then picked up three more wickets in his

next over, to have Choiseul struggling at 34 for four. However, a useful

partnership between Cleus Johnny 17 and Chad James 66 not out, saw them put

up 79 runs together.

Two wickets by Yandon James for 19 could not stop Choiseul as they reached

their target of 154 in 18 overs with the lost of seven wickets. For Vieux-Fort,

Walter Emmanuel finished with figures of five for 29.

As this group heads towards the completion of the preliminary games, it leaves

Soufriere with two wins from their completed four games, Choiseul with three

wins from their four games, Piaye with two wins from their four games, Vieux-

Fort Technical School with no wins from three games played, and Vieux-Fort

Comprehensive Secondary with two wins from three games.

The last group game between Vieux-Fort Technical and Vieux-Fort

Comprehensive Secondary is scheduled to be played on Wednesday 21st at the

Phillip Marcellin Grounds, in Vieux-Fort.
