VFCSS suffers first defeat
CHOISEUL, Saint Lucia - Vieux-Fort Comprehensive suffered their first defeat at
the hands of Piaye Secondary School when the two teams met at the Choiseul
Playing field on Monday 19th.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, Vieux-Fort totalled 153 runs all out in 27.1
overs, with significant contributions for Vieux-Fort came from Jermi Monrose 41,
Walter Emmanuel 36 and Marvel Brin 16.
For Choiseul, Chad James was the pick of the bowlers with four for 30 from
seven overs, while Joe Tench who bagged three for 47 also from seven overs
ably supported him. Lance Andrew also had two for 43 from his spell of six overs.
Choiseul was in immediate trouble when Walter Emmanuel got the wicket of
Denzel Albert with the first delivery. He then picked up three more wickets in his
next over, to have Choiseul struggling at 34 for four. However, a useful
partnership between Cleus Johnny 17 and Chad James 66 not out, saw them put
up 79 runs together.
Two wickets by Yandon James for 19 could not stop Choiseul as they reached
their target of 154 in 18 overs with the lost of seven wickets. For Vieux-Fort,
Walter Emmanuel finished with figures of five for 29.
As this group heads towards the completion of the preliminary games, it leaves
Soufriere with two wins from their completed four games, Choiseul with three
wins from their four games, Piaye with two wins from their four games, Vieux-
Fort Technical School with no wins from three games played, and Vieux-Fort
Comprehensive Secondary with two wins from three games.
The last group game between Vieux-Fort Technical and Vieux-Fort
Comprehensive Secondary is scheduled to be played on Wednesday 21st at the
Phillip Marcellin Grounds, in Vieux-Fort.
