The head of the company which provided a broad portfolio of event management
services for last year’s ICC Cricket World Cup in the West Indies, has extended
his congratulations and best wishes to organisers of the July 1st Trinidad &
Tobago v England friendly football match at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.
Nigel Rushman, who has over twenty years of experience in the sports industry,
says that the England game will provide an example of the way that
the knowledge, skill transfer and training in event management disciplines
developed for the ICC Cricket World Cup, will stand the region and its territories
in good stead as hosts of future events.
“ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 led to the creation of an event culture and skills
base where none had previously existed. That is a critical element of the non-
physical legacy of the event and Rushmans is proud to have been a part in
creating it,” he said.
“It is good to see that new-found expertise is being put into use in Trinidad and
Tobago. I am sure they will deliver an excellent event and I am proud that
Rushmans and other international companies which worked on ICC Cricket World
Cup 2007 have made their contribution."

Writing on the website www.rushmans.com, he reflected on the wide-ranging
role played by Rushmans at the tournament.
“Although the company tends to be recognised as world-leader in the provision
of accreditation and media management services at major events, these were
only two of many roles carried out in the West Indies.
“The media management operation earned the praise of journalists from many
countries, but that is only part of the picture. Rushmans also assisted in the
creation and implementation of the tournament security operation and was
responsible for the volunteer programme, which was widely acclaimed as one of
the triumphs of the event.
“That involved recruiting, training and managing the army of volunteers whose
knowledge, courtesy and infectious enthusiasm were so important to the
successful delivery of the event. The volunteer programme in particular was one
of the areas in which our expertise has contributed to a legacy of skill and
knowledge which will open the door to other events,” said Rushman.
In addition, Rushmans was responsible for the VIP & Protocol, IT &
Telecommunications, Risk Management, Visitor Experience, LOC Liaison, and
Medical, Health & Anti-Doping Programmes.
Nigel Rushman said; “The event represented a great opportunity for Rushmans
to display its full range of event management disciplines. Much credit is due to
the foresight of Chris Dehring, Chief Executive Officer of ICC CWC 2007, to bring
in outside expertise as it did not exist in the Caribbean at that time. Now there is
a legacy that we are proud to have been a part of providing, and it will be
showcased in Trinidad and Tobago.
"The West Indies was an exciting and stimulating place to work and I am
delighted that some of the fruits of that work will benefit future events to be
hosted in those nine countries. We were among a number of international
companies operating in areas such as hospitality, event overlay, merchandising
and event cleaning which trained and worked alongside local people. That
represents the best learning experience possible,” said Rushman.
