Blackheart Football Finals shifted to June 7th
TUESDAY, MAY 27, 2008, Gros-Islet - The 2008 I.G.Y. Rodney Bay Marina /
Guinness-sponsored Blackheart/Kashif and Shanghai Knockout Football
Tournament went into the second day of a two-day break yesterday Wednesday
May 28, 2008.
The Tournament resumes on Friday evening May 30, at the Beausejour Cricket
Ground with another two quarter-final matches scheduled.
From 6.00 p.m., the Castries All-Stars meets Vieux-Fort-south, and then from
8.00 p.m., two-time champions Mabouya Valley comes up against Vieux-Fort-
north.
So far, the defending champions Dennery and Canaries have booked places in
the semi-finals of the competition after quarter-final victories Sunday at
Beausejour Cricket Ground, over Mon Repos and Southeast Castries,
respectively.
Meantime the tournament organisers have announced that they have had to
push back the date for the finals of the tournament. The Finals, which was
originally scheduled for Sunday June 1st, will now be held on Saturday June 7th
at the Beausejour Cricket Ground.
Organisers say they do not want to clash with the opening of the 2008 Carnival
set for Sunday June 1st at the Mindoo Phillip Park, and in addition this
rescheduling would give the teams in the final a little extra time to prepare for
that big game.
