Le Sport dreams cancelled by Robertson Henry

Chucky taking control of the ball

LA CLERY, Saint Lucia; Thursday March 20, 2008 – A 77th minute strike by

Larry “Chucky” Stevens
put Radicals ahead, after Le Sport looked set to pull off a

draw against one of the more fancied teams in this year’s Castries-north District

Representative Football Competition.

Having tormented the Le Sport defense for much of the game with his speed and

dribbling skills, Stevens finally got behind the defense to find the back of the

nets, minutes after he made a hash of a beautifully pass from JnPaul into the

area.

Le Sport made some changes but when Ricky JnPaul latched onto a near perfect

pass on top of the area, he drove it beautifully, low into the far corner of the

nets in the 80th minute to give Radicals a 2-nil lead.

The scoreline remained the same when the final whistle went; Radicals went

away with a 2-nil victory, a result that did not seem likely at the end of the first

half.

Le Sport enjoyed the upper hand in the first half, missing numerous scoring

opportunities as Radicals lost sight of their game plan.

Le Sport was hoping on a point from a drawn game until their defense wilted

under the continued pressure, and the two goals within minutes of each other,

cancelled out their dreams.
