VIEUX-FORT, Saint Lucia – It is said that a cat has nine lives, but in this
instance, Micoud F.C. had nine clear scoring chances, and converted none, when
they met the 2008 Blackheart Play-off Champions South-east Castries at the
George Odlum Stadium in Game three of the 2008 I.G.Y. Rodney Bay Marina and
Guinness-sponsored Blackheart/Kashif and Shanghai Knockout Football
Tournament.
Micoud enjoyed the greater possession, and overall was the tactical team in
passing, running of the ball as former national mid-fielder was near his best.
He maintained a constant flow of attack, and even when the opposition got
behind the back line, Micoud was able to recover quickly to thwart any danger.
However, at the end of regulation and extra periods respectively, the scores
were still locked at nil all. So it was to the penalty shootout attention was now
focused.
At the end, South-east Castries triumphed 3-1 in a penalty shootout over Micoud
F.C., to book a spot in the quarterfinals.
Though it was the best outfit Micoud had fielded in years, the technical staff
were unable to comprehend why they loss.

Southeast Castries had their chances too

minute.
The speedy and troublesome striker Jason ‘turtle’ Constantine put Mon Repos 2-
1 up in the 28th minute, but Ernie Ettienne made it 2-2 converting for Laborie in
the 34th minute.
It was 2-2 at half time and Laborie sensed victory when Mansha Arthur put them
ahead in the 78th minute but a header in the 90th minute from Mon Repos’s
Reginus Robinson sent the game into extra-time where no further goals were
scored and Mon Repos triumphed in the ensuing penalty shoot-out.
