Vieux Fort North wins handsomely by Robertson Henry

SATURDAY APRIL 19, 2008, Micoud

Saint Lucia - The 2008 Blackheart play-

offs reached boiling point at the Micoud

Playing Field, when Vieux-Fort north, handed Desruisseaux a 5-2 defeat.

Played before a small but vocal crowd in extremely muddy conditions, the Vieux-

Fort north lads led by skilled and determined Sheldon Emmanuel went into the

interval with a 2-1 lead.

Emmanuel opened the scoring in the second minute, and followed with a beauty

of a free kick in the 36th, after Lwanger Willie had equalized for Desruisseaux in

the 23rd.

Emmanuel continued to torment

Desruisseaux defense with skill

footwork and dribbling, speed in

running off the ball, and in the 69th

and 86th, along with a 71st minute

strike by Samuel Johnnie sealed
Desruisseaux’s fate, even when Link Florence did give them hope in making the

score 2-all in the 58th minute. But the brace by Emmanuel put this effort to

nothing, as Vieux-Fort north gave themselves a chance towards making it to the

main stage in this year’s Blackheart/Kashif and Shanghai Knockout Competition,

scheduled to commenced in May 2008.
