Wednesday’s launch is the start of the SLNNA public relations campaign towards
sensitizing the nation of Saint Lucia about the July 6th – 12th 2008 tournament,
which will be played at the Beausejour Indoor Facility; “a first in the eighteen
years in the history of this tournament; the starting of new standards to be set.”
Seven teams are expected to participate in the tournament, namely St. Kitts,
Dominica, Grenada, Nevis, Antigua, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and host
nation Saint Lucia.
Palm Haven will be the official home of the tournament, working with the SLNNA
and within the available budget, which is approximately EC$92,000.00.

The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank will contribute the greater chunk of finances
for the tournament, and Charlemagne pointed out that, “To corporate Saint Lucia
there is still room on board for your support.”
The Most Valuable Player of each team will be awarded, along with the Best
Shooting Team, the Most Accurate Shooter, the Best Defense Player, the Best
Attacking Team, the Best Defending Team, the Player of the Tournament, and the
third, second, and first place finishers.
According to Charlemagne, preparations are in an advance stage, and all will be
done to raise not just the standard of hosting the teams, but that of the action
on the court. (Robertson S. Henry)
