Saint Lucia launches Caribbean Games 2009

 

 

SUNDAY JUNE 15, 2008, Castries, Saint Lucia – Following the agreement by

heads of Caribbean Governments, the 2009 Caribbean Games is closer to

becoming a reality. This morning on the Castries Waterfront in Saint Lucia, the

third in a series of expected public launches took place, following the conclusion

of the fifteenth Olympic Day Run.

 

Addressing the launch was president of the Saint Lucia Olympic Committee

Richard Peterkin, Chairperson of the Caribbean Games 2009 Local Organising

Committee Mrs. Dennise Demming, and Saint Lucia’s Acting Prime Minister and

Minister with responsibility for Youth and Sports, Social Transformation, Human

Resource Development, and Public Service.

 

 

Also in attendance were the runners who took part in the earlier held Olympic

Day Run, the route of which was from the Almond Morgan Bay resort at Choc to

the Castries Waterfront.

 

Also were executive officers of national sporting organizations affiliated to the

Saint Lucia Olympic Committee, and officials of the Department of Youth and
