No upsets on Open night
GROS-ISLET, Saint Lucia - The 2008 Subaru Saint Lucia Squash Open served
off on Monday evening with a mixture of local and regional players taking to the
courts, but the matches were uneventful.

Tournament Director, David Piper played the first match against Peter Bryne
defeating him 9/2 9/1 9/2, while fellow St Lucian, Randolph Khan unfortunately
had to play the defending champ, Josh Pinard of Trinidad and unlike his winning
colleague, was defeated by Pinard 9/2 9/1 9/4.
In the next match Kevin Bailey of St Vincent and the Grenadines was defeated by
Joycelyn Martin of Guadeloupe 9/2 9/0 9/2.
Martin is playing his first Saint Lucia Squash Open, and has brought along with a
junior that he is coaching, Pierric Girou.

9/2, while Saint Lucia's number one Charlie Sonson defeated fellow Saint Lucian
Frederick Sweeney 9/6 9/0 9/2.
In other matches on the opening night, Kristian Jeffrey of Guyana defeated
Bradley Glasgow of St Vincent 9/0 9/1. 9/0, Vincentian Shane Slater easily
defeated Thierry Verson of Martinique 9/2 9/0 9/0, and Barbadian Steven Miller
defeated Dominique Rivers of St Lucia 9/3 9/6 9/5.
