Saint Lucian swimmers set records at World Champs
Three of Saint Lucia’s top swimmers did the island proud representing the island
at the ninth FINA World Swimming Short Course Championships in Manchester,
United Kingdom.
Performing against the world’s best, the swimmers, Siona Huxley, Julien Brice
and Jean Luc Augier, shared two National Records, three Age group records, and
posted four personal bests

St. Lucia team to World Swimming 2008
Fresh off her CARIFTA Silver medal in Aruba in March this year, Siona Huxley set
two National Records in the 100-Metre Backstroke and 50-Metre backstroke with
times of 31.15 seconds, and 1:10.06 minute respectively.
Siona also placed 22nd in the 200-Metre Backstroke with a time of 2:37.61
minutes, establishing a new Age Group record in that event
Julien Brice also shone on the world stage setting two Saint Lucian Age Group
records in the 50-Metre Free and 100-Metre Individual Medley with times of
24.96 and 1:08.34 respectively. The 50-Metre Free was a nine-year-old record
set in 1999.
Both Julien and Jean Luc Augier posted personal bests in the 50-Metre Fly, 100-
Metre Free, and 50-Metre free respectively with times of 28.81, 56.75 and 25.29
seconds. |
