KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent & the Grenadines; Sunday October 21st 2007 –
The final four coming out of the Qualifying Draw in the inaugural Digicel-
sponsored International Tennis Federation Junior Tennis Tournament have been
decided, and now look forward to a journey in the big boys draw.
Alexander Golding of Great Britain was not push that much as was expected this
morning on Court 2 by Mykell Reifer of Barbados, winning 6-1 6-0.
Reifer like is characteristic of many Caribbean players, tried his best to drill holes
through Alexander’s racquet, who coolly absorbed the thunderbolts and
returned them with unerring accuracy at times.
Reifer from all indications panicked, lost his mental focus, allowing his opponent
to slammed open the crack, and advance to the final four and the Boys’ 18 Main
Draw.
Egor Kovalez of Russia won his match 6-2 6-0 against Diego Melendez of Costa
Rica on Court I, but the score line does not indicate the quality of the match.
Melendez played some of his best tennis seen over the two days, but he was up
against a much quicker opponent who not only matched his strokes, but whose
placements were a notch more accurate.

Alexander Golding
Paul Brown of Great Britain huffed and puffed throughout his match with Loic
Ducourau of France, but was soundly beaten by a more focused opponent 6-1 6-
4 on Court 4.
Brown though talented as much as many of the other players in the Qualifying
Draw, destroyed himself mentally, not giving himself a chance to mount a
creditable fight.
But the match of the day, and may very well be the match to emulate was the
clash between the Qualifying Draw number one seeded player Richard Chung of
Trinidad and Tobago versus Thomas Proisy of France on Stadium Court.

Thomas Proisy
Proisy won the first set 7-6 which went into a tie break, lost the second 6-7
which again went into a tiebreak, as the number one seeded player lived up to
his billing and kept himself in the hunt for the final spot.
The third set was a ding dong affair as both players executed some of the best
rallies seen to date. Under the hot unforgiving Vincentian sun, Proisy prevailed
to win the third and decisive third set 7-5, and book himself a place along with
Ducourau, Kovalev, and Golding, a spot in the final four to enter the big boys
draw; action of which is scheduled to commence tomorrow Monday October
22nd.
