KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent & the Grenadines; Sunday October 28th 2007 -
Kalotina Klonaris in an uncharacteristic rush of blood at another unforced error,
slammed the ball into the fencing behind her without looking, almost hitting
umpire Chester Dalrymple in the process, during the third and decisive set.
Having recieved a warning the day before the match was postponed to be
completed on Sunday morning, Klonaris action had her team receiving a second
warning, and virtually handing the match and the Digicel ITF Girls 18 Doubles
title to their opponents Constanze Lotz and Kim Alena Twelker; both of Germany
6-2 6-7 7-6.
Klonaris partner Rocio Portella was guilty of having the pair to recieve an on-
court warning, but that did not stop them from rallying to take the second set on
Sunday morning.
Having lost the first set 2-6, the pair of Klonaris and Portella stormed back,
forcing the set into the tie-break, winning the second 7-6.

However they fell behind 1-5, and it looked like the German pair of Lotz and
Twelker was going to run away with a comfortable third set victory.
However Klonaris and Portella had other ideas, and levelled the match at 5-all,
sending the game into a ding-dong tie-break affair, as neither pair was
prepared to relinquish.
However Klonaris rush of blood at 6-7 gifted the Germans the third and decisive
set, the match and title in the process; a sad finish to a real exciting game.
The relived Germans said at the end that they did nto want to win the match in
this fashion, and a distraught Klonaris was in no mood to be consoled by any
one, as she offered apologies to her partner, the tournament officials "I am so
sorry, I never meant to do that."
Although the match ended in a way no one expected, the quality of play on
Sunday morning gave the tournament officials confidence that the Digicel ITF
Junior Tennis Tournament was a worthy addition to the Carbbean Junior Tennis
Circuit.
