GROS-ISLET, Saint Lucia; Thursday August 9th 2007 – Rain again had the
final say today Thursday August 9th 2007, the fourth day of action in the 2007
Coca-Cola ITF Junior Tennis Tournament, being played at the Saint Lucia Racquet
Club Courts, situated at the Almond Smugglers’ Cove.
The Boys 18 Singles semi-finals are among the number of matches scheduled for
tomorrow at the venue’s seven courts.
Much attention will be focused on the one top seed remaining in the draw in the
person of Kevin Deligny of Saint Lucia.
Home supporters are keeping their fingers crossed, in the hope he goes through
to Saturday’s final, along with the distinct possibility of matching Alberton
Richelieu jr’s feat a few years ago by also winning the Boys’ 18 Doubles.
The action serves off at 9:00 a.m. on the day of reckoning Friday August 10th
2007 on Stadium Court, with the Girls’ 18 Singles semi-finals with Hannah Berner
of the USA versus Reka Rohonyl of Hungry, to be followed by Jessica Wacnik of
the USA taking on Janique Jessurun of Suriname.
Next also on Stadium Court will be the Boys’ 18 Singles semi-finals. First it will be
Kevin Deligny of Saint Lucia versus Darian King of Barbados, followed the Nikolaj
Wulff of Germany versus Bradley Bryan of Barbados clash.
Deligny will also be involved in another high stakes clash, this time a the Boys 18
Doubles quarter-final match with his partner Rodney Carey jr, and the pair will
be taking on Manrique Arrea and Manuel Marenco.
In Boys’ 14 semi-finals, Kevin Huggins of St. Vincent and the Grenadines will be
doing battle with Gian Issa of Suriname; Thibault Bain of Saint Lucia will be
taking on Fabrice George of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
In Boys’ 12 semi-finals, Yannick James of Grenada will be clashing with Timothy
Trestrail of Trinidad and Tobago, and Kishan Lutchman of Suriname and Jualon
Greig of Trinidad and Tobago will be doing battle in the other semi-final.
In Girls’ 14 Singles semi-finals, Naomi Brathwaite of Grenada and Evita
Ammersingh of Suriname will do battle in one match, while Carenta Goede of
Suriname and Sarah Hew also of Suriname will clash in the other.
Daneya Charles of St. Vincent and the Grenadines will clash with Dawnell
Bleasdille of Grenada in one Girls’ 12 semi-finals, with Halima Michael of St.
Vincent and the Grenadines and Kelly Voight of Suriname will meet in the other.
Additionally at stake will be matches in the Boys and Girls 12, 14, and 18
doubles, with quarter-finals and semi-finals scheduled to take place.
With the rain placing additional pressure on both players and organizers as the
high pressured semi-finals and quarter-final are to be played, it will be those
who has the will to survive going through to Saturday’s finals in the various
categories.
